It’s easy to get started.
BY APPOINTMENT ONLY | IN PERSON OR VIRTUAL
With one email or a brief minute phone call, you can contact Hinsdale Therapy Group owners/clinicians, Amanda and Julie, to get started. We will introduce ourselves, find out more about you and your goals or concerns, and match you with the right therapist for you.
What to Expect.
At Hinsdale Therapy Group, we work with people of all ages and life stages. Whether you are here for individual, couples, or children and family therapy, our licensed therapists will get to know you and create a plan that puts you on a path to feeling better.
Our carefully assembled group of licensed therapists offer specialized and personalized services to meet the needs of people of all ages and stages of life. It is important to us to find the therapist that is the right fit for your needs. We take care of this during your initial call or email.
During the first session or two, your therapist will get to know you and what you want to accomplish. Importantly, we understand the importance of it working for you. You will also get the chance to understand the approach, style, and match to make sure you are satisfied moving forward.
Patients often meet with their therapist in a one hour weekly session, either virtual or in person. However, this is flexible depending on your schedule and needs. (Virtual visits are not recommended for children and adolescents.)
Frequently Asked Questions
Thinking about pursuing therapy? Here are a few questions you might have about the process and the Hinsdale Therapy Group practice.
A: We know that this can be the hardest part. When you call our office or send us an email, one of our therapists will do a brief assessment of your needs. We can then determine which therapist would be the best fit for you and answer any questions about the process, pricing, etc.
A: During the first session, you and your therapist will set the groundwork. You’ll be asked questions about your history, current challenges and therapy goals. Our therapists are very experienced and well-trained in guiding this conversation and will make it as easy and comfortable as possible.
Throughout the session, your therapist will continue to ask questions and may share some initial thoughts and opinions/recommendations. Towards the end of the session, we will talk about setting up a regularly scheduled visit to begin working with you on your goals.
A: Yes, everything said during therapy is 100% confidential. Not only from a legal and ethical perspective (it is mandatory for all licensed therapists), but also because we treat each client’s story with great respect and care. It is an honor that our clients share their private lives with us and we see it as our duty to make sure that their stories are protected.
A: We usually recommend starting with weekly sessions to give the process some momentum and then re-assessing needs/progress as we go along.
A: It can depend on the challenges faced and the goals of the client. The process and time it takes is flexible in order to meet the unique needs and goals of each client. Goals may be met in three to five sessions or a client may benefit most if they continue in therapy for one or more years. Your therapist will collaborate with you in assessing progress as you go along in order to determine when your needs/goals have been met.
Insurance & Fees
Most health insurance plans provide some form of mental health coverage. Hinsdale Therapy Group (HTG) is an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna PPOs.
Most insurance companies require HTG to provide information before paying a claim. This may include:
Clinical diagnosis codes
Treatment plans
Summaries
You are entitled to a copy of this information. HTG protects your privacy in accordance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act). We require your signed consent before releasing any confidential records to an insurance carrier or other third party.
Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. You may have both in-network and out-of-network benefits that cover a portion of fees. Please check your coverage carefully by calling your insurance company and asking the following questions:
- Do I have mental health insurance benefits, and do I need pre-authorization?
What is my deductible, and has it been met?
Do I have a co-pay or pay co-insurance?
How many sessions per year does my plan cover?
Is Amanda Scanlon or Julie Giers an in-network provider?
What are my out-of-network benefits if I use a provider outside my network?
Billing Procedures.
In-Network Clients
If your therapist is a contracted provider, HTG will submit paperwork and claims on your behalf. Any deductible or co-payment will be collected at the time of service.
Out-of-Network Clients
If your therapist is not a contracted provider, we require payment of HTG fees at the time of service. However, if you have Out of Network (OON) benefits with your insurance plan, we can provide regular statements (called a superbill) with appropriate details for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement, if applicable.
Payment Policies and Fee Schedule
Your co-pay is due at the time of service. Hinsdale Therapy Group asks that you confirm your cost per session directly with your behavioral health insurance carrier. Please bring your insurance card to your first session.
Standard Rates (For clients not using insurance):
Each insurance company has its own contracted rate per session, which may differ from the above rates. The client’s out-of-pocket cost will vary depending on their specific insurance plan.
We are sometimes able to offer a reduced fee on a limited basis. Please discuss this with our billing person or your therapist before beginning therapy sessions.
